Sacramento's weekly reggae/dub/dancehall night brings different acts each week. This week: King Yellowman and His Sagittarius Band meet residents DJ Esef & Selector KDK.

King Yellowman has an incredible history in Reggae music. His upbringing at the Maxfield Home orphanage in Kingston and being albino in Jamaica were two obstacles the he overcame to go on to be one of the biggest reggae artists since Bob Marley. After winning a talent contest at Tastee Patties in Kingston, Yellow went on to excite reggae crowds all over Jamaica and the rest of the world with his boastful and sometimes bodacious lyrics. His ability to ride rhythm and excite a crowd made Yellow an instant hit in Jamaica. His performances are incredibly lively and he seems to have an unlimited amount of stage energy.

Selector KDK is a member of Capitol City Rockas Reggae Sound System, which includes fellow members Juan Love, DJ Esef, and Ras Matthew Pailes.

DJ Esef, a native of Sacramento, has been selecting & deejaying reggae & hip hop music professionally for over 10 years & is one of the founding members of the reggae dancehall soundsystem, Capitol City Rockas Hi-Power Sound as well as a member of the North Star Chapter of the Universal Zulu Nation. He is also closely linked with many West Coast reggae soundsystems including Jah Warrior Shelter, Tribe Of Kings, Squarefield Massve, and many more. For more than five years, DJ Esef has been a resident selector, along with Selector KDK, at a dance called "The Get Down To The Champion Sound," one of the best dancehalls in Northern California.
