Every Monday night, starting in October, Sol Collective hosts the most open mic in the city, Microphone Mondays. Host DFY teams with Sacramento Area Youth Speaks and community members to bring some of the most talented musicians, poets, rappers, comedians, and performing artists of all kinds to the stage.
All rappers must perform one verse acapella before rocking over instrumentals. Instrumentals must be provided by the artists on either CD or flash drive. Entries will not be censored, but Sol Collective reserves the right to refuse mic service to anyone due to gratuitous profanity or subject matter as seen fit.
All entries will be judged by secret panel and audience. Weekly winners receive free admission to MM for the year. Winners from each week are invited back to compete quarterly against other weekly winners for studio/video time.
Schedule: Sign-ups: 6pm-7pm; Open Mic: 7pm-9:30pm; Feature/Cypher 9:30pm-10pm
-First week of the month: Hosted by DFY
-Second week of the month: Hosted by S.A.Y.S.
-Third week of the month: Hosted by DFY with special guests
-Fourth week of the month: Hosted by DFY with special guests
The Sol Collective Cafe and store will be open serving refreshments. The free wi-fi, as always, is open to the public, along with the latest art exhibits.
