Sacramento National Adoption Month

As part of a nationwide effort to raise adoption awareness, a public event will honor adoptive families and recognize the children who continue to wait. A Calling Out of Names of Children Who Wait will take place on the North Steps of the California State Capitol. Through a 5-hour vigil, recognize the 40,000+ California children who are growing up in foster. They will have a succession of community leaders reading the names and ages of the children who are waiting for families. In addition to this powerful expression, there will be entertainment, adoptive families telling their stories, family activities, and a candlelight vigil at 6pm. Immediately following the event there will be an Adoption Fair inside the State Capitol building Room 113 from 4:45pm-5:45pm.
