Sacramento’s Any Given Child Kennedy Center Initiative, under the auspices of Mayor Johnson’s For Arts’ Sake program, is providing 3 days of professional development at no charge for novice and experienced literary, visual, and performing artists who want to strengthen their teaching skills to work with students in school settings. The Any Given Child program is committed to increased equity of access to arts education for all the region’s school children using resources from the local arts community. We need more artists with expertise in leading artist residency programs to work with these students. Come learn the skills required to teach in this program through these hands on seminars. Artists must pre-register and commit to participating all three days.

    Itinerary:
Day 1: Many schools and arts organizations are asking artists to lead arts-integrated instruction in classrooms. What is it and how does it work?
Day 2 & 3: Participants will consider a residency’s purpose, examine options for design, and select and organize residency components for a thoroughly planned multi-session arts integrated residency of their own.

Please note: Lunch will be served both days. There is ample free parking beneath the water tower at the corner of Peacekeeper Way and Dudley Blvd.

These seminars are sponsored by and were developed in association with The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and are partially underwritten by the U.S. Department of Education and the National Committee for the Performing Arts. They are offered as part of Sacramento’s Any Given Child Initiative.
