2011 California Hall of Fame Ceremony

The California Museum’s California Hall of Fame is not just an annual event and a yearlong exhibit -- it is an official State of California ceremony. Honoring those who embody the spirit of California, each year the Californians who have broken barriers to inspire generations to come are recognized in an official state ceremony and presented with the “Spirit of California” medal by the Governor.

Honored in the class of 2011 are: Buzz Aldrin, The Beach Boys, Dr. Elizabeth Blackburn, Father Gregory Boyle, Doris and Donald Fisher, Magic Johnson, Ed Roberts, Carlos Santana, Amy Tan and Justice Roger Traynor.

This year’s event is hosted by Honorary Chairs Governor Edmund G. Brown, Jr. & First Lady Anne Brown, with co-emcees Mayor Kevin Johnson and the Museum’s Board of Trustee member Lisa Ling. In addition, many state officials and past inductees Clint Eastwood ('07) and Chuck Yeager ('09) will attend, making it Sacramento’s premier red carpet gala.

For the first time in the event’s history, The California Museum invites the public to attend by becoming a California Hall of Fame level member of the Museum. Available to new members and current members as an upgrade, 750 seats will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Membership includes free Museum admission for 1 year and is 100% tax-deductible, making it a great way to support the Museum’s mission to enlighten and inspire the next generation of California dreamers through history education.
