Pauline Yu: Chancellor's Colloquium Distinguished Speaker Series

Featured speaker Pauline Yu became president of the American Council of Learned Societies in July 2003, having served as dean of humanities in the College of Letters and Science at the University of California, Los Angeles and professor of East Asian languages and cultures from 1994-2003. She is the author/editor of five books and dozens of articles on classical Chinese poetry, literary theory, comparative poetics, and issues in the humanities and has received fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, the American Council of Learned Societies, and the National Endowment for the Humanities. Yu is also an adjunct senior research scholar and visiting professor in East Asian languages and cultures at Columbia University.
The UC Davis Chancellor’s Colloquium Distinguished Speakers series brings together several distinguished scholars and government leaders who promise to spark engaging conversations with the academic community and broader public around pressing issues of our time. The series is intended to heighten local and national awareness of research at UC Davis and the speakers will also share their vision for university-based research in the 21st century.
