California Creates: Tapigami
Presented by California Museum for History, Women, and the Arts at California Museum
July 18 - October 21, 2012
California Creates: Tapigami is the first museum exhibition for local artist Danny Scheible and the first exhibit to feature the Sacramento Arts & Business Council’s Flywheel Arts Incubator, a program that provides emerging artists with the tools to succeed in the arts and the opportunity to exhibit their work at The California Museum.
Invented by Scheible while a Studio Art major at UC Santa Cruz, Tapigami is an original art form incorporating various types of tape and other materials to create large scale art installations. Featuring Scheible’s best-known piece, “Tape City,” an evolving, handmade 1,500 sq. ft. work depicting a dynamic landscape complete with a river, gardens, and various structures, the exhibit also includes hanger art, multimedia, and more, along with Tapigami jewelry and objects d’art for sale in the Museum Store.
