Clips of Faith Beer & Film Tour
Presented by New Belgium at Central Park - Davis
August 10, 2012
New Belgium Brewing, maker of Fat Tire Amber Ale, is bringing its beer-toting, film-traveling, nonprofit-benefiting Clips of Faith show back to Davis. The third annual Clips of Faith tour has hand-selected a variety of amateur films and will be serving its palate-elevating beers under a blanket of stars.
Since its inception, Clips of Faith has raised more than $100,000 for local philanthropic organizations. Last year, the Davis stop had around 1,250 attendees and generated approximately $3,800 for Davis Bicycles! and Davis Bicycle Collective, which will also benefit from this year's event. Davis Bicycles! is a citizen group dedicated to promoting bicycling in Davis and addressing issues of advocacy, safety, transportation, and education. The Davis Bicycle Collective is a volunteer-run nonprofit community bicycle organization that provides a public D.I.Y. shop where folks share tools, skills, and knowledge about bike maintenance and repair.
The Clips of Faith films embrace many genres, including comedic shorts, animation, and environmental documentaries. Some of the selected films for the 2012 tour include: The Canning Queen of the Desert: Classie Parker, a tale about deep conversations in the kitchen; DamNation, highlighting the controversy over water rights in the west; and Foxy Shazam – Unstoppable, a film entirely created with old school theatre trickery, puppeteering, and black light.
Food is welcome; alcohol is not (leave that to New Belgium). Bring blankets or low chairs--or just lounge on the grass!
