Beijing Guitar Duo closes the Sacrameneto Guitar Society's classical guitar series and brings two of China’s most gifted young artists in classical guitar to Three Stages. Composed of Meng Su and Yameng Wang, Beijing Guitar Duo is widely noted for its outstanding technique and artistic musicality. Ms. Su and Ms. Wang first met at the Central Conservatory in Beijing, China, where they both studied with the acclaimed professor Chen Zhi. Beijing Guitar Duo was formally established at the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, Maryland in 2008, at the encouragement of their mentor Manuel Barrueco. Their first duo recording, Maracaípe, written and dedicated to them by composer Sergio Assad, received a Latin Grammy nomination. Their second recording includes Scarlatti Sonatas, The Chaconne by Bach, Sonatina Canonica by Castelnuovo-Tedesco, Valses Poeticos by Granados, and the world premiere recording of Tan Dun's Eight Memories in Watercolor in an arrangement for two guitars.
