Ronald McDonald House Charities Northern California

Ronald McDonald House Charities Northern California (RMHCNC) was founded in 1992 when, what was formerly Eagle Lake Children’s Charities, became Camp Ronald McDonald at Eagle Lake and merged with a McDonald’s cooperative of owner/operators in Northern California.

While local McDonald's restaurants have continued to provide generous support to RMHCNC, the majority of financial contributions come from community donations, special events, and corporate sponsorships. In 1998, RMHCNC grew to include a Ronald McDonald House in Sacramento. The first Ronald McDonald House opened its doors in Philadelphia, PA in 1974. Throughout the last 36 years, over 290 Ronald McDonald Houses have been established in 30 countries around the world in order to provide a temporary residence for families of children being treated at local hospitals.

In keeping with the mission, the Sacramento Ronald McDonald House provides a 'home away from home' for families who have a seriously ill or injured child, age 0-18, being treated in one of five Sacramento-area hospitals; UC Davis Medical Center, Shriners Hospitals for Children, Mercy, Kaiser, and Sutter Medical Center. Since opening, the 20-bedroom facility has provided short-term, affordable housing for over 10,000 families who have traveled from all across the state of California and beyond in order for their child to receive much needed medical care.
