Sacramento Zoo

Open since 1927, the Sacramento Zoo is home to more than 140 native, rare, and endangered species and is one of over 200 accredited institutions of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. The Zoo is wholly managed by the nonprofit Sacramento Zoological Society and inspires conservation awareness through education and recreation.

    Stuffed Animal Veterinary Clinic Sacramento Zoo Stuffed Animal Veterinary Clinic Presented by Sacramento Zoo at Sacramento Zoo May 26, 2012 Does your stuffed animal need a checkup? Does it have a wound that needs to be sewn? Would you like to see what it takes to be a Zoo Veterinarian or Veterinary Technician? Veterinarians and Docents will be on hand to do exams and repair minor wounds on the Veterinary Hospital Lawn. All patients will receive a Health Certificate.

    Wednesday Workout at the Zoo Sacramento Zoo Wednesday Workout at the Zoo Presented by Sacramento Zoo at Sacramento Zoo May 23-July 25, 2012 Get fit at the Sacramento Zoo. Each one-hour intense workout is designed for all levels and abilities on a drop-in basis. A coach from Midtown Strength and Conditioning will lead the workout and help you get the most out of your training. Strollers are welcome, however, child supervision is not provided. Free with Zoo admission.

It is an opportunity to celebrate the oceans' wide array of wonders and resources, and consider ways that each of us can help with ocean conservation. The day will include activities, information booths, and a special ocean themed story time at 2:30pm in the amphitheatre.

      All the functions that I have been to at that zoo are completely lame. I cant believe what they charge to get in that place. After the Halloween experience we had there, our family will NEVER waste... Expand

      I live on Bartley Dr. The street contollers would not let any cars (residents) out of the area. I left my house at 9:10a.m. & didn't get to Riverside until 9:35 The guards were adamant that we could not leave the area until the race was over. After trying all exits, myself & 5 other cars had to "run the barricade" to get out. One car was trying to get to church, one was going shopping. I have lived here for 34 years and have never been delayed like this. Usually it is a short 4 or 5 minute wait until the guard sees a let up in race traffic and lets cars through. These traffic controllers did not even have walkie talkies to talk to others. They sent the cars from one exit to another. Needless to say, there were a lot of angry, unhappy drivers! Collapse
