At the State Capitol, the past, present, and future of California interact with equal force. The building serves as both a museum and the state’s working seat of government. Visitors to the Capitol can at once experience California’s rich history and witness the making of history through the modern lawmaking process.

    Women’s Vote in California: 100 Year Anniversary “We Won the Vote!” California State Capitol Museum Women’s Vote in California: 100 Year Anniversary “We Won the Vote!” Presented by California State Capitol Museum at California State Capitol Museum October 1, 2011-September 30, 2012 After a long and innovative campaign, California women won the right to vote in a special election on October 10, 1911. The 1911 California victory for woman suffrage was the culmination of a long, hard-fought battle to win political freedom and basic civil rights. California was the sixth western state to win the vote for women, inspiring suffragists nationwide and increasing national attention on what had long been a controversial political and moral debate. Shoulder-to-shoulder with their French and British allies, Californians bravely served in the trenches of Europe, against their axis foes.       American Idol season 7 finalist, David Archuleta is scheduled to perform at this wonderful event. He released a Christmas album last year titled "Christmas From The Heart". That is, of course, in addition to his self-titled debut album 2yrs ago and his latest album "The Other Side of Down" which was released in October.If you have not ever heard him sing, especially recently, you are in for a real treat. His voice is simply amazing, angelic, beautiful. He has a wide range of vocals and a falsetto that'll leave you in awe. He is truly a talented young man blessed with the gift of song. Collapse

      This was horrible, disorganized as to where the general public got to sit. The pre-festivities were not good. Singing/dancing was embarrassing. Actual tree lighting was nice but you could show up... Expand
