The Discovery Museum Science & Space Center is home to the Challenger Learning Center and houses Sacramento’s only public planetarium, an animal discovery room, nature trails, and a wildlife pond. The Challenger Learning Center offers open-to-the-public space missions 7 Fridays per year: please call for information. Challenger simulated space missions are also offered for groups, clubs, businesses, and other organizations.

Teachers may contact the museum to request an educational program brochure describing field trips and outreach progams available for public & private schools, home-schools, and pre-school groups. Educational programming includes a hands-on archaeology dig, Challenger Learning Center space missions, planetarium programs, live animal programs, self guided museum tours, geology, and more. Packing a lunch? Picnic tables are available throughout our 14 wooded acres.
