Sacramento Poetry Center

Since 1979, the Sacramento Poetry Center (SPC) has been a major force for literary artists in Northern California. Though primarily serving as the literary center for the greater Sacramento metropolitan area, SPC's publications are recognized nationally for their quality and literary content and its annual writers' conference has featured some of the most important poets of our time, including Pulitzer Prize winners. They put on public readings, workshops, conferences, publishing, etc.

    Creativity: What, When, How? Sacramento Poetry Center Creativity: What, When, How? Presented by Sacramento Poetry Center at Sacramento Poetry Center May 26, 2012 Your brain wants to be creative, and it is. In this workshop we will look at what creativity means for you, when you experience creativity, and how you can recognize, heighten, and deepen those experiences to engage fully with the world. We will use poetry, images, color, movement, and speech. Expect to write, stretch, speak, and sketch. Join us for a few hours of activities and discussion. Refresh your eyes and ears. Have some fun.

      The little room the poetry center across from the California Stage and next to the French cultural center most nights is getting quite crowded and even packed with such a diversity of local poets and authors presenting their works.Its directors Tim Kahl and Bob Stanley have also set up to bring requested guests from all over the country and abroad.It is so hard for the poetry center directors to get the California Stage except for a few special events. Otherwise Monday nights there is overheard background noise from ongoing rehearsals. People have had to be reminded though to not park on the nearby light rail tracks. Collapse
