Runaway Stage Productions (RSP) began serving the region's theatre community in 1997 at the Eagle Theatre in Old Sacramento and now performs at the 24th Street Theatre at the Sierra 2 Center. It is the only community theatre company in the greater Sacramento area that is priveleged to have an 18-piece Resident Orchestra dedicated to providing live music during performances.

The company stages six Broadway style productions each season and six original Storybook Children's Theatre shows, which are tailored to younger audiences.

Runaway Stage Productions also offers education and enrichment of all audiences through its Youth Musical Theatre Workshops which introduce school age children to the theatrical experience. RSP provides a new learning opportunity through the "Broadway Kids" series, which introduces children between the ages of 5 and 9 to the stage in a fun and nurturing environment.

Audience members will find themselves enthralled with Peggy’s innocence, sweet nature, and determination to become a star. Far more talented than she perhaps even realizes, actress Amy Jacques-Jones portrays a young woman as she is coming into her own and facing the bumps that pave the road along her way. Jacques-Jones will stun audiences with her incredible voice, charming acting, and her impeccable dancing (she is the co-choreographer of the show after all). Collapse

Though it features a song about racism, a character called Lucy the Slut, and sex with two consenting puppets, Avenue Q is actually a musical about finding your purpose in life. Really, it is.

Though it features a song about racism, a character called Lucy the Slut, and sex with two consenting puppets, Avenue Q is actually a musical about finding your purpose in life. Really, it is.

Avenue Q finds gravity via levity to present themes like love and romance, the meaning of life, and what the Internet is really for (apparently: porn). You know, just important life stuff. Collapse
