Runaway Stage Productions

Runaway Stage Productions (RSP) began serving the region's theatre community in 1997 at the Eagle Theatre in Old Sacramento and now performs at the 24th Street Theatre at the Sierra 2 Center. It is the only Community Theatre Company in the greater Sacramento Area that is priveleged to have an 18-piece Resident Orchestra dedicated to providing live music during performances.
The company stages six Broadway style productions each season and six original Storybook Children's Theater shows, which are tailored to younger audiences.

Runaway Stage Productions also offers education and enrichment of all audiences through its Youth Musical Theatre Workshops which introduce school age children to the theatrical experience. RSP provides a new learning opportunity through the "Broadway Kids" series, which introduces children between the ages of 5 and 9 to the stage in a fun and nurturing environment.

    The Princess and the Frog 24th Street Theatre The Princess and the Frog Presented by Runaway Stage Productions at 24th Street Theatre May 19-June 2, 2012 The Princess and the Frog is a new twist on a well known fairy tale about a Princess who kisses a frog. The results are hilarious as one after another of the royal family end up in the pond. Come and meet the magical creatures that live in this enchanted forest!

    Kiss Me Kate 24th Street Theatre Kiss Me Kate Presented by Runaway Stage Productions at 24th Street Theatre May 11-June 3, 2012 The egotistical performer Fred Graham is reunited with his ex-wife Lilli Vanessi in the leading roles of Petruchio and Kate in Taming of the Shrew. Throughout the show they fight and obviously still love each other. Meanwhile, due to mistaken identity, two gangsters harass Fred. Also, two former cabaret performers cast in Taming of the Shrew, Lois Lane and Bill Calhoun, struggle to keep their romance alive.

      I watched this musical last night at the 24th Street Theater. This was my first time going to that theater and I was a bit apprehensive. I've always enjoyed musicals and have attended a few on Broadway and also at the Sacramento Community Center. I did not have any great expectations but was pleasantly surprised with the show. What a talented cast. Their voices were strong and the show was funny! The audience members who participated really got into their characters and seemed to really enjoy themselves on stage. It wasn't hokey at all! The only reason I'm giving this show a 4.5 is because there were a few problems with feedback. The live music was terrific, the vocals superb, and the actors excellent. Certainly a show not to be missed. Collapse

      One of the best RSP productions of the past several years and Amber completely sells the main character. This is Broadway quality stuff, especially Amber, right here in Sacramento. Don't miss it.
