    Kaiser Permanente Women's Fitness Festival Capitol Mall Greens Kaiser Permanente Women's Fitness Festival Presented by Kaiser Permanente and Fleet Feet Sacramento at Capitol Mall Greens June 3, 2012 Get out your calendars and lace up your Nikes!       If someone is a runner there are plenty of other events in the Sacramento area to compete. This focus was supposed to be on Ovarian Cancer Education and Awareness. The name of the event was “Race... Expand

      If someone is a runner there are plenty of other events in the Sacramento area to compete. This focus was supposed to be on Ovarian Cancer Education and Awareness. The name of the event was “Race for Her” run/walk, but the emphasis was “Run for Her” with results being the main focus. This event was supposed to build education and awareness on Ovarian Cancer. Last year there were symptom signs along the route to inform women of the signs and symptoms of Ovarian cancer. This year it was missing. I didn’t see any connection this year to NOCC or the message “Break the Silence on Ovarian Cancer”. The signing of the banner was a nice touch but this was down played. There was no dedication ceremony to honor the survivors or the deceased. I felt the event was very impersonal. Within the teams and groups stories were told but the event overall lacked a personal touch. The booths should have been health or cancer related. There were vendors selling purses. Collapse
