The Effie Yeaw Nature Center is an award-winning environmental and cultural education center located within the beautiful American River Parkway in Carmichael. They offer a dynamic variety of fun activities including children, adult, and school programs, nationally renowned interactive exhibits, educational workshops, and many opportunities for volunteering.

Like our birds, fish too are complex migratory creatures that likewise need both clean, unpolluted water and air. The number of fish we have depends on the health of our waterways. Collapse

      Several years ago when the Effie Yeaw Nature Center was still under state funding, one of the tours I went on was a spring tour in Ancil Hoffman Park about the black deer. Along with a park ranger present, it was exciting to watch two stags having a horn-fencing match while they totally ignored us people nearby! I also can't believe there are people whom live here don't know that deer live peacefully along side with people in the community of Carmichael.(Just don't purposely feed deer, its against the law) Maybe the Rancho Cordova officials whom panicked so badly this past November that they shut down their high school and Hagan Park's playground for a doe deer whom just wandered off the bike trail area should go to a nature educational program like this center offers. Remember the Effie Yeah Nature center now totally depends on private funding and volunteers and receives no more state funding for helping educate our communities about the natural world. Collapse
