Old Sacramento is a living historic district. The Historic Old Sacramento Foundation's mission is to convey the importance of historic Sacramento as a place that connects our past to our present and future. The Sacramento History Museum and the Old Sacramento Living History Program are part of the HOSF.

01/02/12- 12/30/12	The Agricultural Gallery Sacramento History Museum The Agricultural Gallery Presented by Historic Old Sacramento Foundation/Sacramento History Museum and Center for Sacramento History at Sacramento History Museum January 2-December 30, 2012 Sacramento is located in the heart of the Central Valley—one of the richest agricultural areas in the world. Agricultural pioneers are renowned for devising ingenious methods to make farm work more efficient and profitable. In this gallery, visitors see the original McCormick Reaper that revolutionized grain farming. In addition, the beautiful cannery label collection is a testament to the industry that dominated Sacramento in the early part of the 20th century.

    I attended the Underground Tour on the 31st. Unlike the previous reviewer, I had a wonderful time. The above ground section was interesting and important for context. Our guide was a wonderful balance of entertainment and information. I wonder how exactly one can be unprofessional as a tour guide? I felt these tours were a welcome addition to the Old Sacramento experience. This tour is in its infancy. As sites become available I'm sure they will expand the tour.     My husband and I went on the Old Sacramento Underground Tour on July 25 and came away disappointed. While the young lady who gave the tour tried hard, her presentation seemed disjointed and unprofessional. There wasn't much shown to us underground, and way too much time was spent walking around above ground, pointing out the effects of the raised buildings and sidewalks. We could have seen all that on our own. I think the whole underground tour needs to be re-worked. Collapse
