Light Opera Theatre Sacramento

Light Opera Theatre Sacramento (LOTS) has been producing Gilbert & Sullivan operetta since 1982.

The primary goals of LOTS have remained unchanged since its founding:
-Present the comic humor of W. S. Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan
-Provide, via an open audition process, an opportunity for local performers to bring their talents to Sacramento audiences
-Promote the performing arts in the Sacramento region

    Saw Iolanthe at the 24th St. Theatre last night. It was delightful. Go see it, especially if your spirits need a lift. I don't know why this Light Opera isn't performed more often cause it is a hoot. I especially liked The Fairy Queen and the Royal Guardsman in the second act. But really the entire cast was very good. Singing a little uneven but never bad. The orchestra is also excellent for a community production - stayed in tune the whole night. The percussionist gets a workout - tympani, chimes, bells etc. About half the audience gave a standing ovation and all of us laughed out loud in between snickering over the double entendre's and the galloping fairies.
