The Davis Art Center (DAC) was founded in 1959 " to promote the appreciation and execution of the visual and performing arts through classes, exhibits, performances and special events."

In 1986, the current building was completed. It is 10,000 sq. feet, which includes studios for clay, weaving, photography, multi media, tap, ballet, drama, and music. Additional classes which are held in these studios include modern dance and Irish step dancing, storytelling, creative writing, martial arts, literature and language arts.

Over 300 classes are offered each quarter by a faculty of 50 teachers. The average enrollment per quarter is 10 students per class. The average class fee is $48. Instructors are independent contractors and receive 60-70% of each registration.

The Davis Art Center gallery is a non-commercial exhibit space, which offers ten shows per year featuring contemporary two and three-dimensional work.

The Davis Art Center Holiday Sale is DAC's main fundraiser. It is held annually on the first weekend of December. The Holiday Sale features the Paint-A-Plate Studio, Holiday Plate Auction, Children's Secret Store and Holiday Cafe.

Throughout the year the Art Center hosts several recitals, concerts, theatrical productions, and gallery receptions. The Atrium is also a popular venue for community events, fundraisers, wedding receptions, and private parties.

Through the combination of all of these resources, the Davis Art Center serves over 55,000 people each year.

The Davis Art Center is a private, non-profit (501 c3) organization which does not receive any ongoing Federal, State or Civic funding. Program and operational funding is generated through Art Center classes, memberships, fundraisers such as the annual Holiday Sale, grants and donations.
