I went to the Jam with Mylar! in San Francisco this past Saturday and it was one of the best shows I've seen in a long time. So very different. Huge variety of music. First of all, Bill Mylar, is a great entertainer and the musicians he had with him on stage were all superb. I wasn't quite sure what to expect. I thought it would be like an open mike but it wasn't. It was a quality show in every way. They asked for a $5 suggested donation at the door, but I wound up donating $10. I can't believe this guy is doing this for free in Sacramento. Incredible variety of music. They did a stellar Jazz version of Lee Michael's, "Been 14 Days", a hilarious song called "Harvey & Sheila" to the tune of "Hava Nagila", Folk, Country, Blues and good old Rock n Roll. The Connecticut Yankee was packed and people were dancing to this mostly acoustic show! I think I'll make the trip up to Sacramento just to see this again. Collapse

Had great fun and thoroughly enjoyed this show, laughing all the way. Using a cast of stock Panto characters, employing a plot device that's Robin Hood meets Harry Potter, studded with songs, riddled with puns, showered with candy. It's a terrific show for adults and children, together or not. Think Rocky and Bullwinkle or Family Guy; the gags work on several levels without offending any sensibilities. Lots of audience participation The actors and singers are not Broadway quality but who cares? It's fun. I recommend looking up Panto before going if you are unfamiliar with the artform. That will let you inside some of the jokes, and appreciate what is a holiday tradition in most of the English speaking world. But it's not a requirement. Collapse

Overall, I enjoyed the show last night in Sacramento. George does a hysterically funny job shifting back and forth between his relatives personalities, behaviors, reactions, and himself as a child. Brought back lots of memories of growing up in a large family in the 60's. We were anything but babied and spoiled in those days, as the kids are now. I would like to see George leave out much of the masturbation and poop jokes, I think they are WAY overated/boring, and some new material is overdue. I expected more from George in this area.
