      Sarah Fiene Sacramento State (CSUS) - Capistrano Hall Sarah Fiene Presented by Sacramento State (CSUS) at Sacramento State (CSUS) - Capistrano Hall February 8, 2012 Sacramento State hosts cellist Sarah Fiene in Capistrano Hall Room 151. Fiene is the former principal cellist of the Sacramento Philharmonic Orchestra, has performed with the San Francisco Ballet, and is the founder of the ensemble Phoenix. Her concert will include works by Janacek, Stravinsky, and Mark O’Connor.

The quartet’s expertise extends from the Classical Era to the present. The performance will include works by Mozart, Steven Stucky, and Gabriel Fauré.

The program will include W. Francis McBeth’s “Of Sailors and Whales,” a musical rendition of Moby Dick.

A soloist with the Moscow State Philharmonic Society, Mikhailov will perform works by Scriabin, Rachmaninov, and Mussorgsky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition.”
