The story takes place in the late 1880s right here on Sutter Street where the residents of the town and surrounding areas have gotten together to celebrate the holidays. Come see a show guaranteed to put you in the holiday spirit. One of the most enjoyable shows of the year with dynamic characters and fun, current music!

Winnie-the-Pooh Christmas Tail

Presented by Sutter Street Theatre at Sutter Street Theatre

Dec 14 - Dec 29, 2019

A very special Friend-and-Relation tells Christopher Robin a story of a Christmas Eve very long ago (about last year) when Eeyore, the old gray donkey who lives by himself in the thistle corner of Hundred-Acre Wood, was absolutely miserable. It seems that he lost his tail and Winnie-the-Pooh and Piglet got all of their friends and a search was organized. There is a great deal of fun and excitement, plus delightful songs, in the adventure that follows. Its theme, which concerns caring, sharing and the importance of cultivating friends, makes this a very special and enchanting musical suitable for any occasion.

The Sleeping Beauty, a crowning jewel of Marius Petipa's career, is often considered the finest achievement of the Classical ballet. It is a grandiose and refined blending of the traditional mime, expressive pas d'action and spectacular divertissements in a lavish theatrical setting. Tchaikovsky was delighted with the invitation to write the music for a ballet based on Charles Perrault's well-known fairy tale. The fairy tale, replete with a king and queen, fairies both good and evil, a beautiful princess and dream prince, magical stage effects, and courtly splendor, lent itself perfectly to the full evening ballet that was Petipa's pride. The Harris Center is proud to present an evening of documentary theater. Based on court trial transcripts, interviews with Percy Schmeiser, Monsanto representatives, and with farmers, academics, lawyers, and scientists from all across Canada, Seeds leads us through a suspenseful labyrinth of legal conflicts around patent rights, scientific showdowns about GM food, and property clashes between farmers and the biotechnology industry. An evening of “impeccable performances, dynamic design, and swift pacing” (The Coast) seeks to answer Schmeiser’s query of “who owns life?” -- the question at the center of the work -- which, all in all, leads to an evening of “great journalism, and even better theater” (Montreal Gazette).
