Spiritdanzer is the Artistic Director of Spiritdanzer Fusion Dance. Spiritdanzer’s method is a form of dance that is unique to its own. Fusing bellydance, classical ballet, contemporary, lyrical, jazz, and others Leene creates a free form of dance and movement for all ages. Spiritdanzer has a great focus on spirituality, healing, and art/expression. Spirit dancing is a way of being. Spiritdanzer is an all around Native American visual and performing artist and artisan.
Spiritdanzer has been studying the art form of dance for almost 20 years. She respects all forms of dance, considering bellydance to be the height of the art form. In addition to bellydance, including Middle Eastern dance as well as the African/Haitian/Caribbean diaspora (predominantly Banda, Congolese, Mana Gerreh, Mapouka, and Coupé-Décalé styles.) Spiritdanzer has studied and practiced other forms of dance, such as gung-fu, classical ballet, jazz, lyrical, modern/contemporary, K.R.U.M.P., breaking, hip-hop, drill, tap percussion, West African, Native American Tribal, Ballet folklorico, Hula, and Tarantella.
A true professional performing artist, Spiritdanzer is a California Arts Scholar Medal Awardee. Spiritdanzer began out of one woman’s need to reclaim her personal power and bring health and vitality back into her life; she began performing professionally in 1992. Spiritdanzer serves the community as a professional bellydancer, fusion dancer, choreographer, dance instructor, mentor, and instructor of other fine visual and performing arts in and around the Sacramento area as well as nationally. Spiritdanzer is a certified artist/instructor for an exclusive pool of artists for the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission, and also teaches workshops when requested.
In addition to the world of bellydance, Spiritdanzer is also an actor, visual fine artist, and vocalist. She recently made her debut at Carnegie Hall in New York City, NY on May 27, 2012.
