Cheryl Lockett was born in the City of Merced California as Cheryl Craig, the daughter of Kenneth and Lila Craig, of the legendary Merced Blue Notes. The Merced Blue Notes was a groove-oriented sextet of the 50’s and 60’s era. Cheryl Lockett, a product of that same groove-oriented ancestry, began singing at age 4 and drawing at age 12.

The primary duties are to develop, market and present fine art experiences; workshops, presentation and performances to youth and adults. The workshops include voice, music, movement and rhythm experiences, as well as tapestry, mosaic and instrument making. The focus is to strengthen the existence of the Fine Arts in education, and in the community.
Lockett’s personal Jazz ensemble is an aggregation of accomplished, world-class musicians, that collectively projects a unique resonance of World-Beat Fusion, inclusive of Jazz, Blues, Pop, Latin, and Folklore.
