Joey Cattone works in acrylics, oils as well as alcohol and acrylic Inks. Her substrates include canvas, watercolor paper, wood and metal. Many of her pieces are mixed media. Her style is interpretive realism , incorporating bold color and striking imagery. Innovative and creative, she is interested in highly textural works and images that “Pop”, engaging the viewer in her world of dimensionality and imagination. This style is best represented in her mixed media pieces know as her “3D paintings”. Using a fine art photo she has taken and mounted to board, Joey uses acrylic paints and mediums to paint over and into the photo. The combination of photo and paint together give the viewer a sense of being a part of the scene.
Her works have appeared on the cover of Vine Times magazine and she has been featured in Style Magazine. Ms Cattone’s painting “Serenity” was purchased by Marshall Medical Center in 2013 for their new wing.
