Margaret Blanchfield is a Sacramento artist and art teacher. She has been teaching art for 25 years. She started out as a watercolor purist, and now also enjoy acrylics, collage, and art journaling. Her inspirations can come from a magazine photo or the beauty of nature or a dream fragment. She love the unusual and unexpected, the magic of possibility, and the surprise that comes with creating. When starting a new project, she rarely knows what the end result will be, making decisions as she goes along. She is attracted to bold, vibrant colors as you will see in many of her paintings. She loves the spontaneity of paint flowing onto the paper or canvas and interacting with other colors. Often starting with random splashes of color and then find the story in the paint.

For the past four years, she has worked in Sacramento area grammar schools teaching art to kindergarteners through eighth graders, also teaching online classes through Zoom and Facebook. Pre-Covid, she enjoyed having my own studio where she taught in-person and also hosted over 25 other teachers who offered a wide variety of art classes. She hopes to have her own studio again in the future.
