Melissa Uroff is a Sacramento-based artist and photographer. As a photographer, she enjoys using historical and experimental processes. First learning to use a darkroom in 1994, she finds herself returning time and time again to her roots. Some of her favorite photographic processes include using all types of film, polaroid transfers, cyanotypes, tintypes and gum prints.
She approaches her art the same way she approaches her life; carefree, imperfect, a little dark yet colorful. She loves to mix mediums and often dabbles in printmaking, painting, drawing, collage, and assemblage.
Melissa has several public art pieces on display throughout CA, which include large-scale murals along with free-standing art pieces.
When she is not making art you can find her frequenting art and music shows, playing her accordion, hanging with her dogs and traveling every available chance.
Melissa is also the founder of TUBE. Media. TUBE. produces art and music shows monthly at locally owned venues and galleries throughout the heart of Sacramento. Along with community events, TUBE. is also an online magazine which celebrates visual and performing arts worldwide.
