Whether you use my roadmap or choose to explore Sacramento from an aerial view, the 2nd Saturday scene this month will be easy on the eyes…and totally rockin’.
microART
My first stop of the day will be to Sparrow Gallery on R Street to appreciate the smaller things in life. This exhibit represents the most extensive selection of contemporary micro art (2×2 inches or smaller) in the region. The rotating collection highlights established, emerging, and not-yet-known artists who specialize in drawing, printmaking, collage, painting, mixed media, ceramic, and/or sculpture.
Sip and Shop
My next pit stop will be to Identity Coffees for an iced latte and to check out the artisanal goods at the monthly Midtown Bizarre. This month’s featured vendors include Andie the Kitchen Witch, Burly Beverages, Cali Soul Clothing, Cultured Card Co, Have Love Will Travel, It’s Knot Love, Manjar Ceramics, and Sugar Mountain Apothecary.
Rockin’ Photography
This month’s exhibit at Kennedy Gallery will rock your world! Photographer Jason Debord electrifies the rock concert world with his stunning photographs commemorating iconic rock stars such as Ringo Starr, Rihanna, ColdPlay, Pink…to name a few! 2nd Saturday festivities will include live music and a full-service no-host bar.
Dance to THIS
Next up, I’ll head over to the popular summer block party that takes over Lavender Heights every 2nd Saturday. Let the cold beer flow and the dance party ensue as LA Riots, THRILLERS, Flying Horse, Mike Diamond, and My Cousin Vinny all take the stage.
Spectacular Views
I am seriously stoked to see Eli Margetich’s (@tourdedrone) breathtakingly beautiful aerial shots of Sacramento on display at Old Soul in the Alley. My final stop of the day will be to take in the stunning views of our city accompanied with live music, free small bits, and drink discounts.
