Things are cooling off this month, so working out outside is fun again! If you’re looking for active outings this September, then look no further than this edition of Sports365! Clip on your helmet, serve an ace, and walk a LOT at these local sporting events.
One of Sacramento’s best natural play areas, the American River Parkway, is the setting for an epic event this month. Ride the Parkway, a fundraiser for the American River Parkway Foundation, brings cycling enthusiasts and naturalists together for a fun ride along the American River Bike Trail. Funds raised will go towards habitat restoration to preserve the American River Parkway for generations!
The Parkway features 62 miles of ride-able track. If this sounds like too much for you to handle, then don’t worry; participants can ride as much as they want. This isn’t a race, but rather a fun get-together with other cyclists; all types of bikes and bikers are welcome at this event. Bring your friends and register as a team for a chance to win a beer prize!
There will be numerous rest stops along the route (Discovery Park, Nimbus Fish Hatchery, and the William B. Pond Recreation Area). Each stop provides snacks for refueling; the last stop, the William B. Pond Recreation Area, will be the party zone, complete with tasty barbecue, local beers, live music, cycling vendors, and a lively raffle.
Ride the Parkway is the perfect outing to get some exercise, support a great cause, and spend time with friends. If you’re interested in learning more about this great event, then click here.
