SMUD and the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission (SMAC) invite artists who are mothers to submit artwork for exhibition in the SMUD Wonder Women Juried Art Exhibition. Works in all media are eligible, but all artwork must be suitable and ready for installation on a wall. No free-standing artwork can be accommodated. The exhibition will be juried by Lorrie Kempf, SMUD gallery curator and artist.

Submission Deadline: Sunday, April 8, 2018
Artist notification: Sunday, April 15, 2018
Exhibition Dates: May 11 – July 12, 2018
Installation: Thursday, May 10, 2018
Reception: Thursday, May 10, 2018

Submission information:
-Email submission to include Entry form/image list (see below) and digital images of artwork only.
-Do not submit actual artwork until requested to do so.
-Open to any and all Sacramento area artists who are mothers
-Images of up to five (5) artworks may be submitted per artist.
-All images must be in JPEG format (.jpg), and 1024 pixels on the longest side. JPEG images must be named with last name followed by # 1-3 (ex: Smith 1, Smith 2, Smith 3) and must correlate with application image list order.
-Entry form/image list to be filled out, scanned and attached to submission email, along with .jpg images
-Entries must be received by email by midnight on Sunday, April 9, 2018
-There is  no entry fee to have your work considered for the exhibition.
-Maximum size of artwork cannot exceed 60” h x 84” w (framed dimensions) and cannot exceed maximum weight of 30 lbs.
-No minimum size.
-All artwork on paper must be framed. All artwork must be wired and ready for hanging on a wall – no saw tooth hooks allowed. No stand alone sculpture will be accepted.
-Any media is acceptable- photography, painting, drawing, ceramic low relief sculpture, fiber, collage, etc.
-This exhibition explores the process of creating art while raising children. Subject matter must be suitable for family audiences, i.e. no nudity, graphic horror, slanderous words or reference to illegal drugs. Artwork must not be used for the purposes of advertisement, marketing, political action, or presentation of content not appropriate for a family audience.
-Artist name and title of work must be attached to the back of each accepted artwork upon delivery on Thursday, May 10, 2018. All selected artists will be required to sign a temporary loan agreement with the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission. These forms will be provided prior to drop off of artwork.

Selection Process:
-The artwork will be juried by Lorrie Kempf, SMUD gallery curator and artist. Selection will be based on the following criteria:
-Quality of work
-Appropriateness of scale of artwork for size of exhibition space
-Use of safe and durable media
-Appropriateness for exhibition in a public place

SMAC staff reserves the right to reject actual artwork which, after initial consideration, does not conform to standards of excellence, safety or other issues as represented in submitted images. Selected artwork must be delivered to the SMUD gallery on Thursday, May 10, 2018, between 9am-10am, in order to be included in the exhibition.
