Discover the Flyway Docent Training

Yolo Basin Foundation's Discover the Flyway school field trip program serves about 4,000 K-12 students a year by providing meaningful outdoor experiences that give students an appreciation for wetlands and wildlife of the Central Valley. Docents lead learning stations, help develop program tools and team up with staff for afternoon tours in the Yolo Bypass Wildlife Area.

Docent training covers each of the learning stations and docents are asked to commit to lead or shadow a minimum of three times a month. These volunteer opportunities are on weekdays from about 8 to 11:30 a.m. for learning stations and 11:30am to 2pm for Wildlife Area tours.

Training dates:
September 4, 6, 10, 12, & 14
Each day from 8:30am-12:30pm

New docents are expected to attend all five sessions. To sign up, please fill out our quick volunteer application at yolobasin.org/volunteer-for-ybf/ and register for the training dates. If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact Chelsea at (530) 757-3780 or chopkins@yolobasin.org.
