Corridos de La Raza: A Platica by Richard Soto

The Raza Vinyl Collective is hosting their third plática of the year at Sol Collective. Chicano Vietnam veterano, historian, and retired consejero Richard Soto will deliver a plática titled “Corridos de La Raza.” La plática de Soto will cover corridos as historical documents that chronicled events, people, deaths, triumphs, battles, and other topics that were affecting the public throughout Raza history. Soto’s main focus will be to share information that can be used in the classroom or as a source of historical reference, and even as Spanish language maintenance. Soto will use cancioneros, vinyl records, and digital music to illustrate the importance of corridos in Raza culture.
