Join Sol Collective for the Día De Los Muertos Group Art Show 2022!

Día De Los Muertos is a time to celebrate and remember our loved ones who are no longer with us. The ancient celebration includes important aspects of Mesoamerican and Spanish culture, art, language, history, social practices, and religion. The celebration in Mexico is the most well-known but many peoples around the world have traditions to honor and remember their ancestors. Día De Los Muertos is celebrated in California and other parts of the United States by hundreds of thousands of Chicanos and migrants each year.

In addition to the Día de los Muertos festival, Souls of the City in Old Sacramento, Sol Collective is so excited to return to the traditional Day of the Dead art exhibition at the center that will include artwork and altars by some of California’s favorite creatives and collectives including Xico González, Sean Guerra, Roberta Sandoval, Ramona Garcia, Ruben Reveles, Veronica Kovats, Elyse Doyle-Martínez (WeAreSeeds), Jesus Sanchez, Estella Sanchez, Lurac, Dominick Porras, and more. Music will be provided by DJ Larry Rodríguez, aka Flower Vato. This year’s exhibition brings the importance and beauty of cultures to life, and honors loved ones no longer with us. Some artworks and altars highlight the traditions and remember deceased loved ones while other works make social commentary on current issues. Everyone is welcome. Bring the whole family and be a part of this year’s Día de los Muertos celebration.
