Film Appreciation: How World War II Refugees gave us Film Noir

This will be a film-watching and lecture series in which students will explore the themes, content, origins, production history, and context of some of the films from the ‘classic noir’ period. This course will argue that the traumatic experience of exile and homelessness created a uniquely American film genre.
