Artist Barbara Earl Thomas first came to know Jacob Lawrence as her student at the University of Washington, and through the years they developed a deep friendship with Lawrence and his wife. In honor of the exhibition “History, Labor, Life: The Prints of Jacob Lawrence,” join the Crocker for this wide-ranging talk, and gain insight into Lawrence as a person, a friend, and a teacher as you discover why Lawrence’s art remains so deeply relevant to viewers today.
