Steve Homan Quartet

Cherished by millions, the Great American Songbook ideology has survived the test of time to become “standards” within the industry. Although referred to as the “American” songbook, many countries have contributed to the notation, and none greater than Brazil. Said to evoke passion, Brazilian music has its own musical identification thanks to Antonio Carlos (Tom) Jobim, and Joᾶo Gilberto.

Steve Homan, a professor of jazz studies in Sacramento, Calif. has performed professionally for over 30 years with such jazz artists as Howard Alden, Herb Ellis, Jimmy Smith, Anita O’ Day, and a host of others. Here, with his quintet, he brings the two genres face to face with “The Great Brazilian Songbook meets the Great American Songbook.” He is accompanied by Joe Gilman on piano, Jeff Minnieweather on drums, Rob Lemas on bass, Steve Homan on guitar, and Francesca Homan on vocals.
