The Space Between an Art Showing by Finn Davis featuring Heather Galloway

At the ripe age of 14, Finn Davis is presenting his first major art show. Finn has been creating art since he was old enough to dip his fingers in paint. Working intuitively has always been his driving motivation.

In this most recent body of work he has combined many different and interesting materials to create a visual journey through the ins and out of negative space.

Reminiscent of the micro cellular structures coupled with a kaleidoscope of colors, these pieces ask the question of what lies between what we understand about ourselves and the parts unknown. Bridging the gaps that outline adolescence and young adulthood. They embody the twisty wonderful world of childhood while navigating heavy questions about how we see ourselves and the how we are seen.

Accompanied by his mother Heather Galloway, who is best known for her bright works and vivid abstract pieces. Heather has most recently been working in pastels and inks creating large scale works that feel wild and constrained. Where Finn’s work is open, Heather’s work covers every inch of canvas with bright bold colors. Although they have yet to work together in this capacity, the two artist’s work flatters and enriches one another.

The show will also feature the added musical ambience of Autumn Sky Hall, a staple in the local Sacramento music scene and beyond. Autumn “Otto” Sky Hall has been touring and songwriting since the age of 15. Autumn is a prolific singer whose lyrics are as expansive as they are fresh.

“The Space Between” asks us to derive the meaning of the spaces between us, our relationships to others and most of all ourselves.
