In her experimental installation, Sell Me the American Dream, Zeina Baltagi uses plaster, metallic leaf, pennies, and sound to reveal the fractured existence of life as a friend, a sister, the daughter of first generation parents, and a person living under capitalism.
Identity, self, and labor necessarily duplicate and fragment, revealing a life lived in multiple and intermingled tracks, and where time is spent laboring for culture, community, and livelihood.
