The California Art Club, established in 1909, is one of the oldest, largest, and most active fine art organizations in America. Its founding members were a handful of professional artists who migrated to Los Angeles from the Midwest and East Coast, drawn to the Golden State’s natural beauty and year-round sunshine. With conditions that were ideal for outdoor painting, these pioneering artists gave birth to the first artistic movement to be defined as uniquely Californian–“California Impressionism.”

Today, as a dynamic nonprofit educational organization with more than 2,500 members around the world and nine chapters in California, the Club strives to expand the knowledge and appreciation of traditional fine arts. The mission of the Club is to promote the traditional fine arts in the fields of painting, drawing, and sculpture and to provide educational programs and exhibitions that foster understanding and interpretation of traditional art heritage and California history.

  1. Does the local chapter meet in person or on Zoom? I would like to get information on events and activities.
