  1. Hi there!
My name is Candace and I am looking to create a complete directory of Black owned businesses in California and wanted to know of Black farms that can be added to it. Thank you in advance!

    • Hi Candace,
I learned that you are interested in developing a directory of Black owned businesses in California.
I am a board member of the Sloughhouse Resource Conservation District (SRCD) and am seeking to identify Black farmers and ranchers who live in Sacramento County. We are partnering with another local organization to obtain a block grant to provide free services to BIPOC farmers.

      • Melaine, I'm curious as to how your thesis is coming. I've come across a Sacramento historian that is asking for information about black farmers in the area. My family farmed north of Sacramento and many were displaced by development. There is a book published last year 2019 "Farming While Black" by Leah Pennimann. She may have some information that could assist you.

      • Hi. I just read your post and I was wondering if you have had any luck in your search for black farmers in California.

I live in Riverside County and would love to sell my home and purchase some land for farming. I am looking for some direction going forward. I have had a hard time locating black farmers in California. If you have had any luck can you please contact me.

        Thank you.

      • My husband and I are African Americans and we have farmland. We need help, and so far no one has reached out to us. We are in our senior years now and would like an experienced farmer or knowledgeable person to partner with us to start crops or livestock farming
