The Sacramento International Folk Dance & Arts Council is a non-profit 501c(3) organization dedicated to preserving and teaching the traditional dances of the world. The Council consists of 20 dance clubs with classes in Sacramento, Carmichael, Roseville, Davis, Cameron Park, Placerville, Shingle Springs, Garden Valley, Galt, Nevada City, Modesto, Ceres, Turlock, and Reno. Folk dancing is a healthy, educational, inexpensive, and fun activity.
The activity of learning about other cultures and the growing appreciation for them and their art forms encourages peace and mutual understanding throughout the world and in our own community. The Council feels that joining together in the activity of dance is a wholesome, joyful antidote to the pervasive loneliness and alienation that so many people experience. It is healthful both physically and spiritually. It is their goal to spread the joy of dance.
