Every three years since 1999, quilters from throughout California have generously created beautiful quilts for the auction, which benefits the Sutter Cancer Center’s breast cancer programs in Sacramento. In addition to fundraising, other benefits of the auction include:

-Providing emotional support to cancer patients and their families by expressing care and concern through the quilts
-Providing quilters an opportunity to memorialize a loved one lost to cancer or to celebrate the success of surviving a breast cancer experience
-Promoting breast cancer awareness
-Promoting quilting in the community through the quilt display

The auction committee is made up of volunteers from throughout Northern California. As many as 22 area quilt guilds and numerous quilt shops and quilting professionals also offer their time and resources in support of the auction. The motivating factor behind the auction’s success is the vast number of peopke who have been touched in some way by this terrible disease. Working together, with love and enthusiasm for quilting, the Committee will make a difference.

  4. I turned in a quilt in February 2020 just before the pandemic. I wanted to know if it was held until this year or what might have happened to it?

  5. Has the 2020 quilt auction been cancelled? Are you doing a silent auction on line?

    • Hi Helen,

At this time, we are not sure. Please reach out to the Foundation at (916) 887-4481 to see if a quilt auction is happening this year.

      All the best,
