Susan Silvester is an interdisciplinary artist who is originally from NYC, before making her home in Sacramento. She has been an AIR at Verge Center for the Arts in Sacramento for eight years, where she maintains a studio.

She sculpted animation models for Pee Wee’s Playhouse, the California Raisins for Post Raisin Bran Cereal and Pillsbury doughboy TV commercials, and the retired Universal Studio’s Back to the Future ride. She also worked on Rise of the Triad, an early 1995 computer game, the TV show, Santa v.s. the Snowman, and two edutainment CD-ROMS, the Alamo and The 1996 Olympics. She also had fabrication experience creating art pieces for Robert Rauschenberg and Tom Wesselman.

Susan has also been involved in public art projects. In 2014 she was one of ten artists selected for the Power Inn Dumpster Project and the CADA Utility Box Project. Most recently, she did four more boxes with her own unique digitally drawn designs. Three are located in Sacramento and one more in Napa, California. Most recently, she was awarded the commission to create five paintings now on view at the Elk Grove Animal Shelter

After getting her MA in painting at CSU in 2010, the concepts of creating fairytale-like narratives combining pop culture with her personal memories seem to be a natural blend with her work experience.
