As a mixed media artist, Tanya Bermudez has created her art adventures through a series of moves that took her from her hometown of Roseville, California to the state capitol of Sacramento. Through the years she saved her pennies to travel across Europe, study in Spain, and enjoy parts of the country--such as New Orleans during Mardi Gras.

She has a passion for being active in the community and has created a lifestyle that includes participating in local art fundraisers, coaching youth competitive soccer, and working full-time as an Associate Governmental Program Analyst for the Department of Social Services. Tanya graduated from UC Davis in 2006 with degrees in Economics and International Relations and in 2009 she graduated with her MBA from the University of Phoenix.

At 28-years-old and only 5’1”, Tanya lives a life that continues to inspire her artwork on a daily basis. Most everything in life is an inspiration to her, from her dual heritages of German and Mexican to her many travel adventures around the world and the friends she met along the way. Nature is especially significant to her love for life and much of her artwork reflects this with images of trees, animals, and plants intermixed with social and cultural images.

Tanya’s work generally begins with her favorite medium--paper. Perhaps it is all the years of scrapbook and collecting paper for various projects, however paper in any form--recycled, handmade, or designer--is a great part of her work. Self-taught, Tanya has very few boundaries when it comes to her artwork and has developed a great respect for acrylic, oil, watercolor, and ink as well as other craft-based techniques. The main concern she has is to demonstrate the possibility of creativity and imagination. With each piece she always has the goal to help make someone smile and want to take a break from his or her lot of life to just enjoy the visual euphoria that is created through art.
