This February is loaded with a variety of art that you’re guaranteed to adore. Express your love for Sacramento’s art scene this 2nd Saturday by heading out to these great events.

Bigger and Better:
2016’s ArtHotel was such a huge success that M5Arts decided to do it again — this time on a much larger scale. ArtStreet is twice as long, allows for six times as many people inside, and is the most ambitious art event ever in the region. Over 100 artists have covered the once abandoned warehouse using every medium imaginable. If there’s one art event you have to see in 2017, this is it. After you’ve moseyed through ArtStreet, head over to The Coconut on T for a spicy Thai burger.

Note: If you hit up ArtStreet in the evening, be sure to check out the conversation between Carol Gale and Bo Richards in the West End Club.

The Life of Miles:
The art of Miles Hermann will grace the walls of the Tim Collom Gallery, my first gallery stop of the day. This amazing artist was an understudy of one of the region’s all-time greats, Gregory Kondos. Hermann’s paintings cover pretty much everything he comes across in his life — from beautiful landscapes to zippy cyclists. Afterward, I’ll roll on over to The Mill for a warm cup of joe.

The Nature of Art:
I’ll be making my next stop at ARTHOUSE on R to check out their From Nature to Abstraction exhibit. This show features metal sculptures by Marc Cardinet and paintings from Zsalto. Cardinet’s whimsical sculptures and Zsalto’s illustrations couldn’t be more different, but their focus on color play very well off of each other. When I’m finished with the show, I’ll head across the street to WAL Public Market for the daily special at Fish Face.

Artistic Assemblage:
My final stop will be at the Fe Gallery to check out the works of five great artists (Skye Becker-Yamakawa, Alison Ye, Heather Robinson, Sid Wellman, and Donine Wellman). This eclectic group will be delivering a great display of paintings and sculptures for your viewing pleasure. Make sure to check out the live blacksmithing demonstration while you’re there! I’ll close out the night at nearby Sactown Union Brewery for one of their brews.
