As a Sacramentan and a young professional, it has become one of my favorite events of the year! On Thursday, April 6, 600 young professionals from throughout the Sacramento region and beyond will gather at Memorial Auditorium for the 4th annual Emerge Summit.
Spearheaded by Metro EDGE with support from the Sacramento Metro Chamber Foundation, the Emerge Summit is a collaborative effort of the organizing leadership of 10 regional professional programs. It is truly a day to wave your Sacramento pride flag and take your personal and professional development to the next level with our region’s change makers.
This year, the event is now a full day affair filled with spectacular artwork and installations by local artists’ Kyle Lawson, Ursula Xanthe Young, and Meme, a welcome from Mayor Darryl Steinberg, a stellar line-up of speakers including retired UFC Fighter Urijah Faber, educational breakouts, and opportunities to mix and connect with your peers.
Caliph Assagai, Emerge Emcee
Caliph Assagai is an entrepreneur, motivational speaker, and life coach born and raised in Sacramento, California. His focus as a speaker and coach is helping young professionals connect to their passions and achieve their highest potential for service through entrepreneurship or organizational leadership.
Urijah Faber, Retired UFC Fighter, MMA Coach, Entrepreneur
Urijah Faber is known for many things: he’s Sacramento’s most decorated mixed martial arts fighter, a knowledgeable MMA instructor and owner of Urijah Faber’s Ultimate Fitness Gym. In addition to those achievements, he also is an entrepreneur and co-owner of several other businesses, including Urijah Faber’s UFC Gym in Rocklin, MMA Inc Management, Torque clothing line, MemoryTag, Vibe Health Bar, and Kombucha Kulture.
Phil Tretheway, 2016 Young Professional of the Year
Phil is a third-generation Sacramentan. He studied at California State University, Chico where he earned a BA in Communications & Graphic Design, paired with a Minor in Marketing. He has strategized and designed for clients large and small throughout Northern California for the past 15 years, nabbing a few awards along the way. Phil is now the Creative Director at Position Interactive, a full-service creative studio focusing on digital and print solutions for the best clients in the area.
Maci Peterson (Keynote Speaker), Co-Founder and CEO of On Second Thought
Maci Peterson is a millennial entrepreneur and marketing expert. She has been named “Tech’s Newest Innovator” by Essence Magazine and is a recognized subject-matter expert and advisor on entrepreneurship, innovation and diversity initiatives.
The day’s events include the chance to select and attend 3 of the 10 breakout sessions.
