After months of anticipation, Wide Open Walls (WOW) is finally here! This 11-day festival is designed to celebrate the relevancy and diversity of street art, as more than 40 artists — local, national, and international — transform walls and neighborhoods throughout the downtown area and beyond. Throughout the festival, there are plenty of opportunities for the public to engage with the artists, including gallery openings, mural tours, artists panels, and The Wall Ball, an art-themed fundraiser for arts education.

This 2nd Saturday, we’re celebrating all things Wide Open Walls and you will definitely need a full day to indulge in all the festival’s vibrant happenings.

Leave the Car Behind

Grab your bike or put on your running shoes to explore the street art going up around town. Throughout the entire festival, Sacramento Cycling Tours and Sacramento Running Tours are offering guided tours around Midtown and Downtown to see the newest masterpieces, as well as get educated about the history of street art.

2nd Saturday Paid Tour Times

Bike Tours: 9am, Noon, and 6pm
Walk/Running Tours: 9am, Noon and 6pm

Note: For a map of mural locations, click here.

After taking in the sites and getting in your steps, head over to LowBrau for a cold one (or two). Local artist Maren Conrad is painting the backside of the MARRS Building.

Neon and Namaste

The final stop of the night should be to get your namaste on…cosmic-style. Join Wide Open Walls muralists and Sacramento365 August Featured Artists’, ARTners Collaborative at their studio space in Downtown for a late night glow-in-the-dark Vinyasa flow session. You will also be able to check out the group’s mural progress outside of their space at Improv Alley. Complimentary juice and light snacks will be provided by Sacramento’s own Metro Juice Company and all attendees will receive a Wide Open Walls t-shirt or tank. Can’t make the late night session? The group will be offering an Art and Power Vinyasa flow in the morning.

Make sure to check out our Make it a Mural Night page for a full list of events happening throughout the festival. Also, check out and download In the Sac App, which serves as the guide to all the locations for this year’s mural festival.
