This 2nd Saturday, let’s cheers and celebrate ARTober — aka Arts and Humanities Month. Get out and make a day of exploring the city with artsy events, live music, and a whole lot of delicious beer!

Shop Local

I’m going to kick off my day with a little caffeine from Insight Coffee Roasters (Midtown) before I head across the street to do a little shopping from local vendors and take in some live music at the River City Marketplace, the area’s largest maker fair, at Fremont Park.

Long Live Pride

My next stop will be to refuel with Mother’s Chicken Fried Mushroom Po Boy before catching the short films featured in this year’s Sacramento International LGBTQ Film Festival. Along with showcasing cinema with a queer perspective, this entertaining three-day event also celebrates our community’s food, beer, and wine scene.

Can You ‘Handle’ This?

Live music, chef demos with beer pairings, and 50 Deschutes beers on tap…all for a good cause? Yep, count me in. Deschutes Brewery is bringing back it’s big pop-up Street Pub to Midtown’s Handle District for the third straight year. The proceeds will benefit Runnin’ for Rhett, whose mission is to inspire people to Move into Life through their vision of nurturing healthy communities through fitness and nutrition. This event also includes a kids zone, bike valet, and free entry.

A Winning Combo

My final stop of the day will be to catch the 7pm performance of Beer & Ballet at CLARA Midtown. I’ll feed my spirit by watching the compelling dance created by Sacramento Ballet’s talented artists while quenching my thirst with a cool brew from Ruhstaller.
