A Jump Start to the Day

Mornings call for coffee and that means that Identity Coffees is the perfect place to kickstart my day! I’ll grab an iced almond milk-vanilla latte and peruse handmade local goods and beautiful summer blooms at their monthly Midtown Bizarre Maker Pop Up Shop. This is also the perfect time to try out Sacramento’s recent Jump Bike craze as I glide across Midtown to my next event.

Getting a Handle on the Evening

The next stop is over in the Handle District. Sacramento is embracing France’s anniversary with a Bastille Day Waiters’ Race, a chance to see waiters drop a full tray of glassware without having to feel bad about it — though, from what I understand, their main objective is to finish in first place without spilling. Along with this bit of excitement, surrounding restaurants will offer complimentary samples and French food specials! I’ll be heading over to Broderick’s Midtown for a burger and a beer or two before continuing the evening.

The Spice of Life

After choosing from one of the Handle’s many restaurant options, I’ll head over to R Street where the Sparrow Gallery will host the opening reception of their newest installation aptly named the Mixed Media Invitational Group Show where a wide array of local artists will feature their best work. The variety is sure to satisfy!

Mutual Benefit

Being exposed to so many beautiful pieces may leave me with a bit of a longing to take home a piece of my own. Luckily, the 100 Under $100 Benefit Show for RAICES at Outlet Coworking is a special benefit art show with proceeds going towards Refugee and Immigrants Center for Education and Legal Services. As the name alludes to, 100 pieces of art have been donated by local artists and all will be available for purchase priced at $100 or less.

La-la-by

As the caffeine begins to wear off and the night winds down, what better way to relax than with a free movie on the lawn of Sutter’s Fort? I’ll consider this showing of La La Land my lullaby as the summer sun sets on a great day.
